Junior Update

The winner of the junior comp on Sunday the 1st  of July was newcomer Koa Wood with a score of 21 nett. This was Koa’s 2nd competition after joining us from Coolangatta and his first win. Well done Koa!

The winner of the comp on July on the 15th was Moss Mulready with a great score of 25 nett This was Moss’s 3rd comp and his first win after joining our comps with his good Mate Koa. Both Moss and Koa have been great sports and are really enjoying the challenges of a new course.

The winner of the junior comp on Sunday the 22nd  of July was Chloe Long with a score of 21 nett.  Chloe had her lowest ever score in our comps and has really become a great golfer. The practice during the holidays paid off Chloe. Well done!

Tee off time each week is 2:00pm so please be there early to get ready to go.

We encourage parents to come along and play with the kids to keep it more of a fun, family afternoon. Parents will be permitted to use two clubs and a putter and will play off the same markers as the kids and under the same rules. This ensures that the parents keep the day a bit of fun and that they can help teach the kids basic etiquette as they go around, instead of taking their own game too seriously. For those kids who are just starting out they can play a foursomes competition with an adult (who has some golf experience) as their partner to help them learn the basic rules and pace of play.

Congratulations to Max Kane and Andrew Jones who have been selected to play in the Tally Valley GC interclub pennants. The boys are both undefeated so far and we wish them the best of luck for the rest of the season

Stars clinics have commenced on Saturdays at 10am. (There are spots available) and Wednesdays at 4pm (There are spots available)
Masters clinics have commenced on Thursdays at 4pm at the range for the first week and will alternate with Tally Valley GC each week.

Junior Update

CompetitionsThe winner of the Monthly Medal junior comp on Sunday the 29th of April was Abbey Jeffrey with a great score of 22 nett. This was Abbey’s first Monthly medal win and she now qualifies her for the Champion of Champions tournament at the end of the year.

The winner of the junior comp on Sunday the 6th of May was Angelina Dozzi with a great score of 27 nett. This was Angelina’s first win for the year.

This week we are having our first 2 person ambrose event. This means that you play in a team of two, you both tee off, you pick the best shot of the two and then play your next shots from there. You continue to play from the best shot each time until you get the ball in the hole. You can have a team of 2 kids or 1 kid and 1 adult so think about who you want to play with and organise your team. If you can’t find a partner we will find one for you on the day.Tee off time each week is 2:00pm so please be there early to get ready to go.

Junior Golf Update

Competitions

We will have a break during the school holidays due to Easter and the Commonwealth Games. The next junior comp will therefore be on the 22nd of April. Please get out and play some golf at some new courses in the meantime. I love to hear all about it when we get back.

The winner Sunday the 18th of March was Bede Cosgrove with a score of 28 nett. This was Bede’s first win in our competitions. Well done buddy. Second was Tom Hackland and third was Max Kane.

Sunday the 28th of January was the first of our weekly junior competitions for 2017. The winner on the day was Andrew Jones with a great score of  25 nett. It was also the first individual comp game for Bede Cosgrove and Austin Carroll. Welcome!
We also had a competition on Sunday the 4th of Feb. Unfortunately due to some threatening weather we only had three kids turn up. I will have the results from this comp in my next newsletter.

All the regular weekly clinics are on again. As always, after the summer break, I have noticed that all the kids are bigger and stronger and swinging well. However they may seem to be struggling a bit with their shots. This is because the way they are now swinging the club is different and it will take some practice for them to adjust their set ups. The more practice they can do, the quicker this will happen.
Rookies clinics are at 9am on Saturdays
Stars clinics are on Saturdays at 10am and Wednesdays at 4pm
Masters clinics are on Thursdays at 4pm at the range for the first week and will alternate with Tally Valley GC each week.

Parents will be permitted to use two clubs (No more than 7 iron for men and hybrid for women) and a putter, will play off the same markers as the kids and under the same rules. This ensures that the parents keep the day a bit of fun and that they can help teach the kids basic etiquette as they go around. For those kids who are just starting out they can play a foursomes game with an adult (who has some golf experience) as their partner to help them learn the basic rules and pace of play.
